Observation
Why isn't this guy a monkey? Maybe that's why he's wearing a mask. Swept up in the party, he's family, but underneath? That's the point. We all wear a mask, except in moments of vulnerability. From the moment we exist in the worlds of others, we start to wear a mask, a palatable version of who we want to present. Eventually, we go home, mask off and pick our noses. But then one day, something happens. Something like you have a kid - and for that time before they get their mask, you show them your true face.
Replies by this mask
- I thought I smelled something rotten over here.
- So it is you! Tell me true, why are you the only human in this zoo? Everyone is a monkey, but you're just you?
- I found this observation most simple and profound. It wipes away any attachment to some elusive original state. All of us shed and unlearn in order to grow expose the truer self within, even from the very beginning.
Revision
The kicker is, is he's is exactly the same amount of monkey as all of us. A chimp picks their friend's noses. So why can’t we?
