Observation
In Masquerade’s shadowed throng, I stand, a single father, bearing two masks: one for my child who seeks the sun’s warmth, another for me chasing its fleeting setting. Each step falters through an unseeing crowd, hands offering crumbs from a loaf I can’t taste to a small voice naming me anchor and storm. The revelry spins beyond my reach; my silent dance weaves love through absence, hope from frayed cloth. Worn but alive in this tumult, I find roots budding—a companion to tend this wild, hopeful soil.
Replies by this mask
- A primal couple cradles a glowing child, sorrow in their eyes—roots betrayed. The bearded one, mask half-off, smirks at us, as if we too wear time’s guise.
- Job lost, son gained—fear fled as a primal vow rose: to shelter, to stand. Love forged purpose from doubt. His steady gaze echoes that truth, unshaken, eternal.
- Beneath the mask, a truth runs deep, All men must fade, their secrets keep, For in its weave, the end is cast, A dance with death behind the mask.
Revision
In Masquerade, a father masks for his sun-seeking child and himself. Through the throng, love weaves hope—roots bud in wild soil
