Observation
For a time he struggled, tangled in the embrace of his own mind. In time, he came to see the shadow not as an enemy, but as a companion. It was in the darkest recesses that his mind thrived—his dominion. Control and disappointment; gnawing away with fear. Fear turns into paranoia; paranoia to psychosis. Run. Even muted by pills, he is still flesh, still bound to humanity. Fear clings to him, and he will sacrifice everything precious to escape it; to transcend. Take flight. A phoenix rises.

- Obligation, control, and disappointment is how family can keep you caged. Do you free yourself to your family or from it? How do you forgive the sins of the past to see the pure gift they offer you now? What if they don't recognize their wrongdoing?
- Maybe he's forgotten. Maybe the bloodless are enough to fill the void. Do I forgive? Will he ever apologize? Does it matter? All I know is Sam has always been afraid. Maybe we can fix this. Maybe. The axe forgets, but the tree remembers.
